Who is Natascha Wesch?

Natascha Wesch is a Mental Performance Consultant registered with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Natascha specializes in Mental Performance Training and Consulting and works with athletes and performing artists of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, Natascha is a professional member with the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).

Natascha Wesch brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to her consulting work. She has been involved in various aspects of elite competitive sport for over 30 years and has an extensive academic background.

Elite Athlete, Coach & Sport Administrator

A former international rugby player, varsity hockey player, and competitive gymnast, Natascha understands first-hand the qualities, characteristics and mental skills required for peak performance. Natascha represented Canada in the sport of rugby on the world stage for over a decade as an athlete, competing in two Rugby World Cups and numerous international test matches. Natascha also served as the Female Athlete Representative on the board of directors for Rugby Canada.

As a coach, Natascha has been involved at the high school, club, provincial, national, and international levels. She established and developed one of the most successful university rugby programs in Canada, was instrumental in the development of junior women's representative rugby in Ontario and Canada, and led Canada's National Senior Women's Team to the first ever Women's Rugby 7s World Cup in Dubai. Natascha has also been involved in the elite sport administration serving as the Director of Women's Rugby on the board of directors for Rugby Ontario. Currently, Natascha mentors elite coaches through the National Coaching Institute (Ontario).


From an academic perspective, Natascha has a multi-disciplinary background. She completed her post-doctoral work in Health and Rehabilitation Psychology at McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada), and obtained her PhD in Sport Psychology from the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada) specializing in imagery and sport injury rehabilitation. Natascha also holds a Masterís degree in Exercise Physiology/Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario, and a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Athletic Therapy from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada). Recently, Natascha returned to pursue further academic studies in the area of mental health and well-being and obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Western University.

Natascha's education combined with her elite athletic, coaching and administrative backgrounds enables her to provide her clients with hollistic support in the areas of mental performance, counselling and mental health, as well as a thorough understanding of the demands of high performance sport.

Career & Certification

In addition to spending the majority of her time with athletes and performers of all levels in performance psychology consulting and counselling, Natascha is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Science at the University of Western Ontario where she teaches in the areas of Rehabilitation Psychology, Sport Psychology, and Group Dynamics. Natascha is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Natascha is also a Professional Member with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA). Natascha is fluent in French and English, and welcomes Francophone and English-speaking athletes and performing artists.
