Brain Imaging
This video is a lecture by Dr. Adrian Owen from the University of Western Ontario. The lecture centers around brain imagery - much of the lecture content can be linked to sport imagery. Dr. Owen discusses, among other things, what happens in our brain when we imagine doing something, like playing tennis. Through the use of fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imagery) scientists are able to show that whether we simply imagine performing a task (no action just thinking about it) performing a task or we actually physically perform the task, the same part of the brain is activated. In other words, by imagining yourself playing tennis, you activite that same regions of the brain as you would when actually playing tennis. Check out this video (it's worth the time!):
